WTM Racing Returns at Portimao in collaboration with Phoenix Racing

In a new and exciting collaborative effort the Wochenspiegel Team Monschau (WTM Racing) are planning to make their return in the first 24H Series at the upcoming Hankook 24H Portimao. This will be the first time in over a year that we will see WTM Racing back on the racetrack.

WTM Racing returns at Portimao in collaboration with Phoenix Racing for mid-July 2021. This announcement has left many spectators at the edge of their seat as the last time we saw this German team compete in the 24H Series was at the Autodromo Internacional in Algarve back in 2017. In the past WTM Racing carved out an impressive reputation for themselves as they lead 373 of the completed 722 laps of the Hankook 24H event that year, winning the second place position overall. Later on in 2019 WTM Racing also gained another podium spot at the event during a part campaign in 2019.

As WTM Racing Returns at Portimao in collaboration with Phoenix Racing at the upcoming 24H event, this marks the team’s first series entrant with Phoenix Racing who are the former DTM champion. This new agreement between the two parties ahead of 2021 marks the end of a previous collaboration the WTM Racing team had with Rinaldi Racing where we got to witness WTM racing run two Ferrari 488 GT3’s known as Guido and Luigi since 2016.

WTM Racing are very excited for their newest venture as their aim now is to build on their previous successes with the Ferrari 488 GT3 while working alongside a well-known professional and established team like Phoenix Racing. The owner of WTM Racing Georg Weiss is very excited for the future ahead and believes that this collaboration will be very successful and beneficial for the future of WTM Racing.

The Phoenix Racing team have also earned their fair share of success at the 24H Series as in the past they won the GT4-class at the Hankook 24H Dubai in 2018 along with an outright podium on its most recent at the 2019 Hankook 12H Spa. Although Phoenix Racing were very loyal to Audi in the past, they are equally excited about the collaboration with WTM Racing and is confident that their transition to Ferrari will be smooth for the year ahead.
