TOP FOUR PRO-AM BEST IN SUPER TROFEO FOR LI AND BRUNOT AT MISANO

Kerong Li and Jean-Francois Brunot emerged from an incident-packed second Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe race of the weekend at Misano in Italy on Sunday morning with a top four finish in Pro-Am, 11th position overall – having begun the contest 21st on the 30-plus car grid.

With three Safety Car interventions and, ultimately, a red flag stoppage with just over a minute to go, the Leipert Motorsport team-mates negotiated any on-track dramas impressively to deliver their best result of the Misano weekend.

Following a collision out of Turn One at the start of Sunday’s race, the Safety Car appeared for the first time and Brunot held seventh in Pro-Am and 18th overall. Racing resumed with 40 minutes to go and Brunot continued to move up the order, staying on track as the pit-stops began to be served and climbing into fourth in class and ninth overall before pitting himself near the end of the window.

Li took over and joined the track seventh in Pro-Am and 18th overall and, like his team-mate, managed to avoid incident as the final 15 minutes of action were impacted by two further Safety Car interventions. Taking fifth in Pro-Am and 12th outright at the flag, a post-race penalty for a rival elevated the duo into fourth in class and 11th overall.

Race one late on Saturday evening brought seventh place in Pro-Am and 22nd overall. Li began the contest at 20.00 local time from 11th in class and 30th overall and moved up into the top 25 prior to making the mid race pit-stop. During a busy second stint, Brunot produced good pace and racecraft to gain seven overall positions.
