The London E-Prix is set to Launch

As the United Kingdom have recently celebrated Freedom Day, the London E-Prix is set to launch this very weekend. The 2020/2021 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship is making an exciting come back to electric street racing in London for the Heineken London E-Prix Rounds twelve and thirteen on 24 & 25 July for the first time since 2016 in Battersea Park.

As the London E-Prix is set to launch this weekend it is heading to East London’s historic docklands and the ExCel exhibition centre. This venue is best known as the host of the history maker as they hosted the first international race series to compete on an indoor and outdoor circuit.

Ahead of the weekend antics Sam Bird from the Jaguar Racing Team tops the pile as he heads into rounds twelve and thirteen after a powerful recovery from zero where his dominance recovered victory at his most recent event in New York City which had started off with a big diversion in Free Practice One. Thankfully Bird’s win will mark his return home to London’s E-Prix with a target on his back as he races on home soil this weekend alongside the reigning champion Antonio Felix da Costa and Robin Frijns.

The London E-Prix is set to launch with a strong British presence this weekend with cars lining up on the grid and also in the garages. Out of the twenty-four drivers set to compete this weekend, seven of them will be competing on home soil which will be a first for many involved. Two British teams Envision Virgin Racing and Jaguar Racing will also be on home ground for the event while NIO 333 and Mahindra Racing also both feature all-British driver line-ups.

There is great excitement built up around the London E-Prix this weekend especially as London has recently announced its plans on becoming fully carbon neutral by 2050 and the cities Transport for London transit authority by 2030. In addition to that Formula E is the only motorsport in the world that allows the spectators to play an active role in influencing the outcome. Fanboost for round twelve will open on July 21 and round thirteen will open very shortly after round twelve has ended.

It is free to play via the Formula E app and this is set to create a great sense of excitement therefore there are no excuses for missing out on all the action that is set to be an unmissable weekend.
