Sir Stirling Moss – RIP to a Legend

Such sad news for the motorsport world as racing legend Sir Stirling Moss has sadly passed away. A legend in every sense of the world, he will always be remembered as one of the greatest drivers ever with an envious legacy and list of achievements.

Born in London in 1929, Stirling Moss began his racing career in 1948 and his first major international race victory happened just before his twenty-first birthday. From early age all the way through his career, he displayed confidence and mastery on the track. So much so that over the span of his racing career he won an amazing 212 races out of the 529 he entered. He also demonstrates that racers can have a glittering and impactful career without every going on to win the World Championship (famously finishing just short of pole position seven times between 1955 – 1961).

A fixture in the driving seat of the world’s most identifiable and respected car brands (with Sir Stirling himself being one of the most identifiable and respected racers); these include Aston Martin, Cooper 500, ERA, Ferrari, Jaguar, Lister Cars, Lotus, Maserati, Mercedes, Porsche and Vanwall. Building upon this illustrious list, he was inducted into the International Motorsports Hall of Fame in 1990 and in the 2000 New Years Honours List, he was knighted. He announced his retirement at the age of 81 in 2011 and remained a brand ambassador for Mercedes even after his retirement.

We will all miss Sir Stirling Moss but never forget his amazing contribution and achievements in the world of motorsport. A stellar worldwide ambassador for the sport and icon in every sense of the world. His name will live on not just in British racing – but on tracks around the world which have been lucky enough to be graced by his presence and spirit.
