Sport 21 at the Nurburgring 24h

Wow – what a time for racing! Sport 21 were excited and delighted to be helping and supporting at the Nurburgring 24h, even with the trying conditions.

Nurburgring 24h

An iconic racing circuit known all around the world, this year the Nurburgring 24h was always going to be different given the altered times and dates and restrictions in place due to the COVID-19 outbreak. But little did we know how different this would be. As a motorsport agency that works to connect drivers and teams to the best opportunities possible; we love lending our support to iconic races such as this and made sure to have our help in place behind the scenes and on the track.

It was won by Nick Yelloly under very challenging conditions. So challenging in fact that he described them as some of the worst he has ever experienced in his racing career to date. Speaking to media outlets following his win, he explained “It was really very hard out there; certainly, the worst conditions I have experienced. Every lap threw up a challenge.” This was due to very heavy rainfall that caused the race to receive red flag status and even caused two leading Mercedes-AMG GT3’s to crash out while they were heading the race.

Factoring in the usual malfunctions and mishaps that can happen (which included Raffaele Marciello having quite an impactful crash into a wall); this was a race where you couldn’t afford to look away for a second for fear of missing the next high-octane occurrence. Even with the race being red flagged and weather hampering the usual comings and goings, a big well done has to be extended to Nick Yelloly for literally weathering the storm and coming out on top. A memorable time and race indeed.
