This is a great boon as it adds to the hypercar lineup for 2021 – the year that is poised to be fully back to normality for the motorsport industry as a whole. The Automobile Club de l’Ouest president, Pierre Fillon, echoes this sentiment as he has stated about the plans: “This exciting announcement emphasises the allure of our new top class . . . I would also like to thank Glickenhaus and all our manufacturers for their contribution to the discipline and their faith in our plans for the future of endurance racing.”

The Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus team themselves have also stated: “In 2017 we stood up and said we would race the new hypercar class. We are moving rapidly to fulfil that goal . . . We have already met several of our engineering targets and are applying the lessons learned to move us towards additional targets.” This also gives us more of glimpse into what teams and brands have been up to while the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak halted much, if not all, of the global racing calendar.

As of now, the team will compete with Toyota and ByKolles in the LMH class when the relevant racing resumes. Founded by Jim Glickenhaus, there will be much excitement and fanfare to see the American brand take to the track as they state on their website: “It has been over 50 years since a car made in America has won First Overall at Le Mans. We have been working for 50 years to change that. We are ready. It is time.”
