Herberth Motorsport Gains Victory in Barcelona

The Hankook 24H Barcelona was a very successful weekend indeed although it was one Herbert Motorsport won’t forget anytime soon due to their great success.

Herberth Motorsport gains victory in Barcelona as they successfully secured the top two positions on the overall podium after a forceful run at the Hankook 24H Barcelona. The leading Porsche 911 GT3 R starting at pole position was involved in an intense battle early on with the CP Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 and the WTM Racing Ferrari 488. Although it was a stressful spot for the team it turned into a strong advantage as Herberth’s rivals soon ran into problems as the race reached the half way mark.

As the Porsche 911 carried on to clear several laps after twenty-four hours of racing, Daniel Allemann finally drove the Porsche over the line to complete the 695 laps of the 4.675km Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. As Herberth Motorsport gains victory in Barcelona, the 91 Porsche also set a new distance record for the events GT era. This memorable moment for the team resulted in not only Herberth Motorsports overall win at the Hankook 24H Barcelona but this was also the teams third outright victory of the 2021 season.

In a tight three minutes behind the Herberth team we saw the Rutronik Racing by TECE Audi R8 GT3 present its best run to date in the 24H Series with third overall. Soon after the IDEC Sport Mercedes-AMG GT3 also showcased a solid run achieving fourth place on its first run with Creventic since 2019. Throughout the race having overcome some gear selector issues, Collection Motorsport finished in fifth place overall collecting the P4-class win. Collection Motorsport showcased the second evolution Audi R8 LMS EVOS for its competitive debut and it did not disappoint.

The 24H Hankook Barcelona weekend was essentially dominated as Herberth Motorsport gains victory in Barcelona as they set out to secure their third outright victory of the 2021 season. Robert Renauer explained that the Hankook 24H Barcelona was the perfect race for his team. He feels no mistakes were made and that is the key to success in any endurance race.
